Philosophy of work - Marg Garvan
Everyone has meaning and value. Nelson
Mandela once said that what we are afraid
of most is not our darkness but our
light. Most of us know and live in our
fear, we participate regularly in dramas
and get tripped up when life does not
go our way. We may face a relationship
breakup, somebody we love dies and the
pain feels too great. In childhood you
may have been abandoned,. As a result
we make decisions and take on patterns
that felt right at the time but now
do not serve us. As a result most of
us recreate these patterns in order
to reinforce what we believe about ourselves
such as I can't be loved or I can't
trust anyone. But what happens then
to those precious parts of yourself
such as your self esteem, passion, worthiness,
to being adventurous, creative and to
your spirit. This is what Nelson Mandela
is talking about when he mentions our
light.
The philosophy of the Ghandarva Wholistic
Counselling Centre is to work from a
non-judgmental position, to see the
beauty of the individual, and to work
from integrity. People can heal themselves
and move forward in their lives. It
believes in working with the whole person,
the body, mind, spirit & emotions
in order for effective change to happen.
It empowers people to see that they
are the creators of their life and not
the victim.
I see my work as more than helping a person through a crisis. Iwant people to see who they truely are, their full potentitial and know that anything is possible.
Part of my philosophy is that the soul is the heart of therapy. The soul is the part of us that joins heaven and earth together at the heart. Therefore it has been shown that it is impossible to consider therapy without soul work. It is also important for the therapist to work out of the heart space. We are spiritual beings here to have a human experience.
We are all adventurers on the path to find God. Our soul is our connection to heaven and earth. I have always believed that when you need help in life someone will be there for you. The only thing you have to do is to recognise when it comes and to take the first step.
